Deskpad Learn

Learn is a platform Deskpad has developed for schools to use, completely free of charge. Students write their essays with a Socratic AI tutor built in, while teachers get full transparency. Finally, an AI platform with no ulterior motive! :)

Why we built it.

We were tired of watching people just complain about AI without doing anything about it, so we built a tangible solution to the problem we kept seeing.

All AI usage within Learn is directly influenced by our core philosophy of structured transparency at Deskpad. The AI is transparent, every draft and revision is visible to teachers, and the thinking is completely the students'. It's a constantly evolving product, with new features shipping every week, and it's our proof that AI, when done right, can be one of the best things for how people learn.

Three steps. Zero friction.

Teachers assign. Students write. Everyone stays in the loop.

01

Assign

Teachers set an assignment in seconds. Essays, DBQs, research papers. Pick the prompt, pick the date, done.

Write with Sage

Students draft in a real editor with Sage beside them. It asks the questions a good tutor would, and never writes a line for them.

03

Full transparency

Teachers see every draft and every Sage conversation. No guessing, no detectors, no banning tools. Just clarity.

The usual responses don't work.

Most schools land on one of two answers. Both leave students worse off.

Ban it

Students use AI anyway, at home, where no one can see. Teachers turn into detectives, and AI detectors are unreliable and biased.

Ignore it

No guardrails at all. Students paste from ChatGPT, the thinking gets outsourced, and writing skill quietly erodes.

Safe, guardrailed AI.

Sage is the Socratic tutor built into Deskpad. It draws out a student's own reasoning, sharpens the argument, and points back to the evidence, all without ever writing the sentence for them. Every reply hands the work back to the student as a better question, so the thinking stays theirs.

Already living in Google Docs? So is Deskpad.

Add the Deskpad add-on and students get Sage and full transparency right inside the documents they already use.
